Return of the Log - 24 · Oct 14, 08:50 PM

At least I think it’s Week 24. I could go and count, but I’m not really all that motivated to do so. It’s largely unimportant. This was my first week of solid training now that I’m back in Bend and back to being healthy. Got a bit distracted on the health front with all that travel, but things are good now. Took a little while to get my feet back under me, it’s occasionally good to remember how tough being sick is, because maybe it will inspire me to not get sick this winter!

Monday: Run 1.75. Level 1 test, 29:14. Slow! Two minutes slower than six weeks ago. I knew as soon as I started warming up it was going to be bad. I skied for the better part of 3 hours with Marshall yesterday and felt fine, but it took a lot more out of me than expected. So I’m not all the way back yet. Good to know.

Tuesday: Specific JD 1. Mostly putzed around, did some work on my legs, but just went out to move around, should feel better soon?

Wednesday: Skate 1.5. Feeling a little better this morning, but I’m in no hurry … basically the goal is to be good for camp this weekend.

Thursday: COCC class 1.5. Okay, morning strength just does not do it for me. Not sure why it’s so much worse than in the afternoon (it’s not like I ever enjoy the gym), but I was not a happy camper in there. Started to get explosive with the jumps. PM: 1.5 mostly DP. Felt pretty good, well, really good relatively speaking. Hooray!

Friday: Classic 2. Up McKenzie Pass. PM: Bounding/Ski walking intervals 2.25. We were out there for a long time, I did 5x~7:30. I started a little faster than that and ended a little slower. Consistently lost 5 seconds per interval. Hard on my legs, definitely hard. Not feeling anywhere near as good as on Tim’s Hill a couple weeks ago.

Saturday: Skate 2.25. 11:30 and then 3×9:30 on steeper terrain. These were tough coming on top of yesterday afternoon, but I felt better than I did then. Hung with Marshall and Zach, which I didn’t do yesterday, and pushed the top of the last one a bit. Feeling it in arms and legs, which means I might be using my upper body. PM: 1.5 run. Legs? Hello? Where are you?

Sunday: Classic 2. Very easy, cruised around with Wes. My body actually felt okay, but my legs were not real good (duh).

Review: Okay, definitely a week where I gained. Training Thursday-Sunday was very real, and hit me a little bit. It’s been a couple weeks, but I feel like I’m bouncing out of it pretty well. Century TT at the end of this week, so I’m looking for a good day there.

YTD: 17.25/17.25/402.9
