Jet Lag · Mar 21, 06:06 AM

It’s been a while since I had actual jet lag (if you don’t count the first couple of days in Slovenia). It’s going on 6 right now, and I’ve been pretty wide awake for an hour and a half. I gave up trying to fall back to sleep a little after 5. Nothing terribly wrong with being up this early, but I did go through yesterday pretty much in a haze. Hopefully I’ll be a little better today. In some ways it wouldn’t be terrible to not fully adjust, seeing as I’m heading back east in a week, but life might be a little more enjoyable on 8 hours of sleep each night.

Travel back from Europe was pretty uneventful, but a really long day. Three separate security checks seemed a bit excessive, but the only really annoying one was the “extra security” that I had to go through in Frankfurt before getting on a flight to the US. I’d forgotten how we don’t trust anyone else to do our security for us, and we wonder why the rest of the world thinks we’re obnoxious. That and the customs declarations. Europe was a whole lot easier to get into, though I wouldn’t say the US was hard.

It was pretty wintry up at the mountain yesterday, and it looks like it might stay that way for a few days. Masters Nationals is going on this week (you can now be a master in the US at 25 in the M0 category) but I’m not racing. It’s a little bit on principle, but mostly I don’t have any mental energy to give on extra races right now, and I don’t need to pay a lot for an intensity session. I can do that all by myself, thank you very much!

I’ve kind of exhausted the internet this morning – really, I’ve seen the whole thing – so maybe I’ll go do something useful like make bread or wax skis.

  1. MO catagory!? Oh, for fuck’s sake.

  2. C’mon Scott, here’s your chance! No really, it’s good. Now you don’t have to race as a senior for more than three years. Wouldn’t want the age groups to get too big.

  3. I dunno, Scott. “MO” sounds like a perfectly apt category name. As in “What a bunch of mo’s”
