In Between

I wrote up yesterday’s race and have the post all ready to go. Only trouble is it’s on my laptop and I’m not. We’re at MTU using their free internet, and my temporary password hasn’t authorized yet. So instead of posting from my computer, I’m struggling away on a Windows 2000 era public computer with no picture access and a lousy keyboard. It’s a Compaq. Do they even exist as a company any more?
So I’m not going to re-write the post – it’s just going to be delayed going up. The very short version is yesterday was a big relief and good for my confidence. I’m ready to get after it tomorrow. I feel pretty decent today, like I may have recovered alright too.
It’s finally stopped snowing, but it was snowing buckets most of the day today. Still really light stuff, but it was making the Super Extra ice when I stepped out of the track. That’s not a real common experience. 15ks tomorrow, with only about 2.5 of them being restful. Gonna have to suffer I think.

Good luck! I hope the 15 goes really, really well. Having grown up – and skied more than a little bit – in the Copper Country, including quite a few k’s on the Tech trails, I can imagine the conditions.
(When you get a chance after Nationals, I’d love to read a racer’s analysis of the process of qualifying for the Canmore World Cups – it’s a bit opaque to me…)

We’re happy to hear things went well yesterday. Congratulations from all the Lyme Center Caldwells. Now, as Lucy and Heidi’s running coach would say: “In Mawa, we suck it up.” For one new to the concept of suffering, sweating and maybe even feeling a tinge of burning in legs and lungs, this means kick some butt!! Good luck.
xxoo, tim
