Renewed

A week shy of six months. That’s how long it’s been since I posted here. During that time I’ve been getting 150-250 visitors per month, which is kind of shocking, given how long it’s been since I’ve written anything. Furthermore, a quick look at the page-views makes me think that roughly three-quarters of those visitors are actually looking for content from me. So for those of you still patiently waiting for my return, wait no more, I’m back! Sort of.
Today I renewed braytonosgood.com for another five years (though I’m pretty confident that if I had accidentally let it lapse, I would have been able to get it back). It wasn’t quite as good a deal as when Yahoo sold it to me the first time around, but I’ll survive. I also promise to start the blog back up again. I don’t quite know what form it will take – probably a little bit more story focused and a little less about individual races and training sessions. Maybe a little bit more personal is the best way to describe the writing I have yet to produce. I also promise to get pictures going again.
But, since this is a blog about ski racing, and I want to keep that context, there’s not going to be much to see here for a little while. Come back in November – I promise another post in two months.

More of La Feclaz in Pictures...

This will have to wait, I’m struggling to do a bulk upload to my SFTP server (I get a lot of “preparing to copy…” and then usually an ExpanDrive disconnect) and I refuse to do them all individually TTW. Maybe from Rogla.

50 minutes of work, about 2 hours to do all the copying. So far it’s working like a champ.

I’m going to try and get an archive going that has article title, maybe date and category and sort it by date. For the interim I added a “previous” link on the bottom of the page.

To click or not to click

I’m naive to think enough that there are at least a few people reading this site. Do we have any preferences on the click-through style excerpts, or the full posts on the front page? Just curious.

Permanent Links

Update Fromberger walked me through fixing it from the command line. Broken links appear to be broken no more. Let me know if things don’t work.
Okay, got a little figured out on this comment problem. As long as I do “messy” mode with the file linking, they work fine. Otherwise to get them to work with pretty permanent link names I need to get my .htaccess file in the right place, which I’m having a little trouble doing. Apparently it’s already there but textpattern can’t find it. Suggestions? Jon?
Oh, and Cyberduck won’t actually let me see any .htaccess files in my directories, because they “belong to the system.” I just know they’re there because I’ve uploaded the file 1.htaccess and when I try change the name to .htaccess it won’t let me because said file already exists. It doesn’t help me look at the current one and see what’s in it. Won’t let me overwrite either…
