Beautiful September

Another lovely day here in Bend, with overnight lows around 40, then warming nicely to the mid-60s this afternoon. I roller skied in shorts and a long sleeve this morning, but I had to roll my sleeves up. Did I mention no wind? Really it’s quite lovely. Tomorrow we’re supposed to see the mid-60s again, and West is going to see 50. It’s really too bad it’s not late September. Don’t get me wrong, I love this weather, and if it’s not going to be winter, it’s not bad to have this instead, but it doesn’t feel a whole lot like race season is going to be happening in 12 (!) days.
Friday’s skate time trial ended up being on roller skis, as will be the intensity this week. West hasn’t updated a grooming report since Wednesday, but the webcam is looking more brown and less white pretty much every day. It’s beginning to feel a lot like the start of the season last year, let’s hope we don’t have to make another all-out dash on the Tuesday before the race, but it’s feeling like the waiting game is about to begin.
